The Journey
Before we even got our name, God used someone to plant a seed.
At the end of October 2012, my family and I had just experienced flooding from Hurricane Sandy. I did not have anyone to help us, and I prayed and asked God for help. A volunteer group was passing by, stopped, and asked me if we needed help. The next day, the group showed up to help us. Not only did they help us, but they also brought an abundance of food for everyone - including us.
While we were eating lunch, I told them that the process of rebuilding our home was difficult. However, I was certain that God would work things out for our good, even when it didn’t feel good. I didn’t know how God would work it out. I didn't know when He would work it out. But all I had were my Faith and God.
“That was when the team leader said to me, 'Heather you need to tell your story. Write a page or two, and I promise you I will get your story to The Daily News, The New York Times, one of the papers for everyone to hear your story.' Little did we know, this was a seed planted by God. I started writing my one-page story, and now my one-page story has grown into a book.” (Crazy Faith: Learning How To Live Life Over Again).
This was how the first book came about. However, this was not the first book God released. God knew there was more - and He gave me a dream to prove it.
Years later, in September 2020, God released His first book "Sea of Forgiveness: Reasons Why Not to Forgive." Then, God told me it was time to come up with a name for the website to sell His books. I was trying to come up with names on my own, and every name I came up with - my children and grandchildren said no. Therefore, I called a family meeting. During that meeting, God planted another seed by giving the name, God’s Bodega, to my son. Everyone in the family meeting agreed with the name - and the rest is history.
What God plants in you, you have to be the first one to water it. The seed God plants in you today may look small. But, for God’s Bodega, what God started as “a page or two” has grown into more.
Who would have thought that something so small would be this big today. This is why the Bible says, “Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.” Ecclesiastes 11:6 NIV
